Darrell Roberts
I saw this Chicagoan's work for the first time in 2007 at the Hyde Park Art Center, where he was teaching a the time. The show was titled "Luscious" and they were. I immediately bought one for myself. This guy just gets me with his lush brushwork — real cake-frosting surfaces in a size you can hold in the palm of your hands. His first solo show at our gallery was in 2009 and he has been going strong ever since. His show in the fall of 2012 was a smash, selling 32 canvases. Darrell is a regular recipient of grants and fellowships and has taken artist residencies around the world. He continues to live and work in Chicago.
