Ben Tinsley - Thicks as Thieves: new paintings

"Thick As Thieves" is my third solo exhibition with McCormick Gallery and the first time I am showing this new body of work, made with thick layers of paint squeezed directly from the tube. My work remains deeply rooted in my connection to family, memory, and the small rituals of everyday life. Like my earlier paintings, these works are playful, colorful, and bold. Throughout the exhibition, the rectangle appears as a central focal point. It may function as a window, a portal, a question, or perhaps an answer to a problem not yet solved. As the paintings build layer by layer, these forms become spaces of possibility: familiar, mysterious, and still unfolding. - Ben Tinsley, 2026
